Time and Distance

I was putting together some images to share with a client so that he could understand the processing difference between 720nm and 830nm infrared images and why I am such a fan girl of the 720nm for 90% of my shots. Back to my task -- I started trolling my external hard drives for a location where I shot with both cameras. For me, that is a hard thing to do. Choosing which camera body I use depends on the light -- actually, the lack of direct light. In foggy conditions, I reach for the 830nm to give me more contrast.

Give It a Rest

More than thirty years ago, I was enjoying a walking tour of the Victorian homes in Cape May, New Jersey. I was dating a guy whose dream was to purchase an old Victorian home and restore it to its once splendorous condition. Once in town, we learned of a gentleman (probably a member of the historical society) who gave tours for free. One small statement that he made during this tour has always stuck with me: “Too much is never enough.”

Infatuation or Love?

I am pretty sure that the vast majority of people have fallen madly in love at least once in their lives. In the beginning, it is both an emotional and physical roller coaster. Dopamine is doping, you could care less about food, and adrenaline flows like a river in the spring. Maybe it is not falling in love but the rampage of infatuation. I’ll bet that all creatives feel this way at some point in the process of their art. Seamlessly and unexpectedly, the moment arrives.

Rainy Day Notes

It’s been quite a few days of dreadful weather here in northern New Jersey. Supposedly it is spring but the flowering trees got caught with a hard freeze in the midst of blooming. The streets of the community where I live are lined with flowering pear trees. Those trees started to bloom and then nothing. Not that I blame them. I feel the same way.
